What am I?

New Year’s resolutions are hit or miss with me. Mostly miss. This year, my resolution was to work out 3 times a week. Lofty goal. Let’s just say that nine months in…I haven’t been very ‘resolute.’ There is time for redemption however! I have been exercising 3-4 times a week for the last few weeks and actually very much enjoying it. I know…there are pink, curly-tailed creatures with snouts flying outside your window right now. Really though, with a LOT going on in my world as of late, I’ve cherished the time to get away, process, think and sweat. For some reason sweating is therapeutic. I know weird. Anyway, I was out on a run the other day and this song, ‘Beautiful’ by Shawn McDonald came on (old school) and I was really blessed by it. What an ‘awe-inspiring’ thought that the God that holds the stars, that paints the sky with beautiful colors, that created ALL of creation would know me. Small me. Not only does He know me, but he knows my innermost being, better than I know myself. What a ‘mind blowing’ thought and much needed as of late.

Well, I’m not much of a landscape/natural photography because I love to tell a great story though the lives of people. However, in light of this song’s premise, I have included some ‘creation’ photos from a variety of things I have done lately as a visual reminder that even in comparison to God’s beautiful creation, He designed US to be the masterpiece of it all. The only response that can occur in reaction to such a statement is, “What am I? What am I that I might be called your child. What am I that you might know me, my King?” Grateful that our indescribably beautiful, star-stablizing, sunset artist, vast beyond my imagination King knows me. Small me. Even better than I know myself.

Beautiful

As I look into the stars
Pondering how far away they are
How You hold them in Your hands
And still You know they’re small
You know my inner most being, oh
Even better than I know, than I know myself
What a beautiful God
What a beautiful God
And what am I, that I might be called Your child
What am I, what am I
That You might know me, my King
What am I, what am I, what am I
As I look off into the distance
Watching the sun roll on by
Beautiful colors all around me, oh
Painted all over the sky
The same hands that created all of this
They created you and I
What a beautiful God
What a beautiful God
And what am I, that I might be called Your child
What am I, what am I
That You might know me, my King
What am I, what am I
That You might die, that I might live
What am I, what am I, what am I, what am I
