White Lace and Promises.

When I was little my parents used to talk about all of their favorite musicians when they were young. We’d break out old cassettes and listen to the ‘oldies.’ They were partial to one group in particular. With a sad story but a sweet sound, The Carpenters were very special to my parents. Why? Well not only did they love their music, but they had played one of their songs at their wedding ceremony, way back in 1980 in Washington, D.C. I remember how they would look at each other as, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun,’ played in our small house at 2504 Woodthrush Street. As if it were June 21st, 1980 and they were saying their vows to each other for the first time. It’s a sweet memory and a sweet song about starting a new journey together. So much ahead of you. So much to look forward to. This song inspired my Wedding section (still under construction) on my home page (‘white lace and promises’ is a lyric) and it seems to encompass all that happened this past June when Kasey and Graham made their promises. If you haven’t heard the song, I strongly suggest taking a moment and listening to the calming voice of Karen Carpenter. The video is a little bit retro and a throwback to days when you had straight bangs and sang while sitting on giant letters on stage. A bit strange. If you can’t handle it, just close your eyes! I’ve posted the lyrics for fun and my latest edited images from Kasey and Graham’s ceremony. Eventually I will have them all done but until then…I’m going to keep dragging out the posts! Enjoy!

Happy Sunday!

We’ve Only Just Begun by The Carpenter’s

We’ve only just begun to live

White lace and promises

A kiss for luck and we’re on our way

We’ve only begun

Before the rising sun we fly

So many roads to choose

We start out walking

And learn to run

And yes! We’ve just begun

Sharin’ horizons that are new to us

Watchin’ the signs along the way

Talkin’ it over just the two of us

Workin’ together day to day, together

And when the evening comes we smile

So much of life ahead

We’ll find a place where there’s room to grow

And yes, we’ve only just begun
